Experience
While I have no formal tutoring experience, I have successfully aided friends and family members with a variety of subjects, particularly literature, math, and physics. My SAT score total was 2010 (out of the possible 2400), with a 750 in Reading and a 660 in Math. I also took four SATII tests (Physics, Literature, History, and Math I) and scored above 600 in all of these. I took a total of 6 AP classes in high school, and by passing these obtained 24 college credits. I want to be a tutor both because I enjoy teaching people and because I enjoy spending time with people who love learning. I am not in college just because of the job opportunities it opens up, but because I love learning new things. I have taken a lot of psychology classes, since I need them for my major, and some of these are instrumental in being an effective teacher, such as adolescent psychology and developmental psychology. As I said before, I haven't worked as a tutor before, however it will interest you to know that my high school, Bergen Tech, rewarded my exceptional writing skill with a cash prize. No classmate who has sought my help with an essay has ever received a grade lower than an A- (or an 8, if the class used AP grading). If there is a grammatical rule I don't know, the odds are that it is so obtuse teachers won't know it either.
